Workshop Description
A project manager must be equipped with a solid understanding of the contract
management process to ensure that the most value is obtained on contracts negotiated for
the project. This includes contracts from both perspectives, as a buyer for the project or
on contracts negotiated with your clients. The contract management process involves
establishing the requirements for the contract, evaluating which kind of contracting
method to use, creating contract solicitation documents, soliciting proposals,
establishing evaluation criteria, evaluating proposals, awarding contracts, and performing
contract administration.
Participants receive in-depth instruction on contract management principles,
methodologies, and procedures, along with effective strategies to monitor and control the
contracts. They learn the process of using the most effective contracting method for their
projects and managing the contracts to ensure contractors, subcontractors, and other
suppliers perform as required with minimal change orders and limited liability to the
project manager.
The complete contract management process, based on the Project Management Institute
(PMI), is presented with the theory and practical examples of each of these
techniques. Workshop exercises are also provided to enhance learning and provide immediate
experience to enhance your project management capabilities.
